About Me

My experience

After teaching studio art for 20 plus years at William and Mary in Williamsburg VA, I moved to Kennebunk Maine in 2021. Since retiring, I have become interested in drawing and painting the inter-tidal rocks at Gooch's beach in Kennebunk. In the fall of 2023 I took "Introduction to Marine Biology" through my local community college.  I was introduced to the many varieties of seaweed that cling to the rocks and wash up on the beach. The seaweed studies are a perfect off season project, for when its too cold to draw at the beach.  There are over 250 species of sea vegetables ( marine macro algae) in Maine. They are beautiful forms to draw and paint. In January 2025, I will be taking a Geology course through the University of Southern Maine. I am looking forward to learning about the formation of our rocky Maine coast.
